  The Alexander Tecnique

The continuous changes and challenges that come with modern life can preoccupy us so much that we forget the most important factor: Our own selves.

When the natural subconscious mechanisms we use to maintain our balance and posture are disturbed, perhaps by habitual bad use or an injury, our performance, both mental and physical, is adversely affected. The series of automatic reflexes involved can support the body almost without effort however recovering the appropriate muscular coordination for a balanced posture is not something that can be forced.

In Alexander Technique lessons we learn to prevent ourselves interfering with these subtle and complex mechanisms thus re-establishing their original good functioning. Movement acquires a new quality: it is more coordinated, lighter and freer with the welcome side effect of improved breathing and speaking.
